Final Cut: A Thin Slice

By on March 7, 2012

“Friday the sixth struck like a bolt of lightning. Remy awoke suddenly. The room was pitch black. He gently rolled over and looked at the digital alarm clock. The red numbers said 2:35. A steady drip of water from the trees outside broke the stillness. He lay there silently waiting for something to happen. Outside his window, distant voices passed by. He could not hear what they were saying. Footfalls crunched along the path and were gone. The drip-drip of water continued. A long slit of light from the tungsten lamps outside streamed under the door. Two dark breaks appeared in the slit.

Someone was standing just outside.”
